The test of India and ODI captain Rohit Sharma will be the ambassador of the T20 Mumbai League with the MCA who hopes that the other stars of the city will make SHREYAS Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav available for the event stopped because of the COVID-19 Pandemie after two editions. The competition was held in 2018 and 2019 before the Pandemie led to the suspension. Rohit is retired from T20 internationals, but continues to play in the IPL.
Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Tushar Deshpande and Prithvi Shaw are some of the popular Mumbai players. Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal moved to Goa a few days ago. Most of them are currently working on their IPL obligations. The MCA event (Mumbai Cricket Association) does not start before the IPL conclusion on 25 May.
“We are not obliged to play, but we strongly expect them to play in the T20 Mumbai League. Their participation will only help Mumbai grow and benefit the players and the competition,” an MCA officer told PTI.
Rohit will be present at an event to announce the competition on Friday.
It is also learned that the MCA each considered a wage of RS 15 Lakh for the “icon players” in the competition.
The MCA has received more than 2,800 entries for the event.
The tournament comprises eight teams with two new parties that will soon be announced.
The other six teams are North Mumbai Panthers, Arcs Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Namo Bandra Blasters, Eagle Than Strikers and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs.
