Three Kolkata Knight Riders -Budget people -Andre Russell, Sunil Narine and Andrich Nortje -did not succeed in the Gauge test and had to replace their bat during the IPL 2025 match against Punjab Kings on Tuesday. The inspections were carried out as part of the new IPL regulations that determine a certain measurement for the bats. “The triangular plastic meter has printed the dimensions of a legal bat on it: depth 2.68 inches, width 4.33 inches, edges 1.61 inch. The curve, or the lump of the bat, seen on the lower non-hit side of the bat, must be the rule within 0.20 inch.” Legend Dale Steyn, South Africa, gave a brutal view of the rule and said that the scores were taken from the implementation.
“Umpires have a new toy. Batters come in with their 2nd choice bats … Check the scores … haha,” Steyn posted on X (previously known as Twitter).

After Kolkata Knight Riders did not succeed in having to chase a modest target of 112 against Punjab Kings (PBKs) in the IPL match, the former Wicketkeeper in South Africa and coach Mark Boucher closed the approach of the defending champions and said they “put themselves in a gap in a gap.”
The triple champions were out for only 95 and Punjab handed a historic 16-run victory because they defended the lowest total ever in the history of the tournament.
KKR looked in control during a 55-run partnership between Ajinkya Rahane (17 of 17) and Angrish Raghuvanshi (37 discount 28) after 7/2 early in the innings. With only 50 runs needed of 74 balls, the team spectacularly collapsed to 79/8 and was eventually bundled in 16 overs.
“It is not like a 140 or 150, and it is not like a target of 60 run. It was a total that would always be awkward. It is a total that you are expected to get it as a batting team. I just think they have hit a little hole.
“They started with a considerable start after the two wickets and then they came quite for the time being. That is quite strange, from a team that just came to the back of a victory. So yes, I just don't think the battle people who came in are the intensity they needed,” he said on Star Sports.
