Pakistan Super League (PSL) side Islamabad United faced massive trolling on social media after they called India’s victory over Pakistan in the 2023 Cricket World Cup an ‘upset’. After Afghanistan’s huge win over England last Sunday, the two-time PSL champions said on social media: “Two upsets in two days! #CWC23 is already full of surprises.” The reaction was almost immediate as fans of the Indian cricket team were not happy with the statement and reminded Islamabad United of the dismal record Pakistan has against India when it comes to the ODI Cricket World Cup. The two sides have met eight times and India has emerged victorious on all occasions so far.

Pakistan were completely outplayed in the match against India as Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer produced brilliant knocks after a disciplined show from the Indian bowlers led by Jasprit Bumrah.

Meanwhile, legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar made an interesting observation about Pakistan’s loss to India in the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
I mean, yeah 8-0 is an upset. Whatever helps them sleep https://t.co/Icx3pSwHno

“Rizwan is the kind of player who can take over the opponent’s game. He is a very brutal player. He knows how to play and adapt his game to the needs of the team. So his wicket was very crucial, otherwise Pakistan It.” would have ended with 250-260. So that was a huge blow. Then Bumrah gets another wicket, with another cutter.
“It is clear that Pakistan have not learned anything because it was only towards the end when Shaheen bowled that cutter that Rohit was bowled out. We had thought that they would bowl the cutter even with the new ball. It is not written anywhere that the new ball to bowl at a certain pace. You can change it but nothing like that was seen from the Pakistani bowlers,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.
