Finally some runs for Yash Dhull, Delhi 223/5 vs Hyderabad
Young skipper Yash Dhull finally found form as Delhi reached 223 for five after bowling out Hyderabad for 355 in their Ranji Trophy Group B match in Hydearbad on Wednesday.
Back to open the innings after missing out on his team’s historic victory over traditional rivals Mumbai in the previous round, Dhull made 72 runs off 74 balls on the second day of the elite group game as Delhi scored by more than four runs by about.
IPL star Ayush Badoni hit an 85-ball 78 as the stumps were drawn for the day.
It’s a sort of redemption for 20-year-old Dhull, whose nightmarish Ranji season took a turn for the worse after the “ill” Delhi captain was ruled out of their clash with Mumbai last week.
However, Dhull’s debut season was successful as he scored 820 points, including four hundred, at an average of 74.54.
Thanks to consistency, Dhull was named skipper of the Delhi Ranji squad this season, which also included 100-Test veteran Ishant Sharma and IPL star Nitish Rana, less than a year after captaining India Under-19 to a World Cup title.
Hyderabad resumed the day on 247 for four and was aided by Rohit Rayudu’s fine hitting of 153. Rayudu hit 90 overnight.
Seamers Harshit Rana and Divij Mehra took two wickets each for Delhi, while Pranshu Vijayran and Hrithik Shokeen took two each.
At stumps, Delhi trailed the hosts by 132 points.
