It was a heartbreaking loss for Delhi Capitals as they blamed themselves for failing to make it to the IPL 2022 play-offs. It all started when their top ranking failed to give a solid start against Mumbai Indians on Saturday, which led to an undersized total of 159 runs. But their bowlers brought them back into the game. The match witnessed a pivotal moment in the 15th over of Mumbai’s innings when Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant decided not to review the on-field umpire’s decision.
Tim David, the great batter of the Mumbai Indians, appeared to have made the very first pitch he encountered at Shardul Thakur’s bowling. But the field umpire failed to issue it. With two reviews up his sleeve already, everyone expected Pant to take the DRS, as he was the one who had spoken noisily from behind the stumps.
But after a brief chat with the bowler and his teammates, Pant decided against it. The replays peaked on UltraEdge and Pant knew he had made a big mistake.
David scored 34 crucial runs in almost no time and secured Mumbai’s 5 wicket win, dumping Delhi out of the tournament.
After the match ended, a dejected Pant revealed why he didn’t go for the review.

“I thought there was something, but everyone standing in the circle wasn’t convinced enough, so I asked them ‘should we go up’ and at the end I didn’t take the rating,” Pant said.
Delhi Capitals has never won the IPL title, but the team had made it to the play-offs of the past three seasons. But that won’t be the case this time.
