Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who suffered serious injuries in a car accident on Dec. 30, will undergo surgery for ruptured tires after being transferred to Mumbai, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed. The BCCI has taken care of Pant’s further treatment and he will be taken to Mumbai by air ambulance from Dehradun. He will be further monitored by the BCCI medical team.
Pant was treated at Max Hospital in Dehradun since his accident but will now be treated at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. The board confirmed that the wicket-keeper’s batsman will require surgery for the torn tires he suffered in the accident.
The BCCI statement read: “The Board of Control for Cricket in India has made all necessary arrangements to relocate Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant to Mumbai. Rishabh, who is currently being treated for his injuries at Max Hospital, Dehradun following a car accident on December 30, will be taken to Mumbai by air ambulance.
“He will be admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute and will be under the direct supervision of Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, Chief – the Center for Sports Medicine, and Director – Arthroscopy & Shoulder Service at the hospital. Rishabh will undergo surgery and subsequent procedures for torn ligaments and will continue to be supervised by the BCCI Medical Team during his recovery and rehabilitation.
“The board will do everything it can to support and expedite Rishabh’s recovery process and will provide him with all the support he needs during this time.”
It was also previously reported that the BCCI could decide to fly Pant to the UK if necessary.
