Ajinkya Rahane made a really dramatic comeback in the Indian team, forcing his way into the Test side thanks to prolific performances in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League. After making a big impression in the World Test Championship final against Australia, albeit in a losing cause, Rahane is ready to show what he’s got in the Test assignment against the West Indies. Although the right-handed hitter is 35 years old, he still sees himself as a youngster hungry for points and success.
Rahane made a comeback to red-ball cricket after an 18-month hiatus when he was included in the World Test Championship final against Australia last month. Rahane, an 83 Test match veteran, who was a past deputy for former skipper Virat Kohli, has been named India’s vice-captain for the West Indies series.
But the veteran batsman got a little annoyed when asked about his comeback to the national team at the age of 35, insisting he is still young and has a lot of cricket in him.
“What do you mean at this age? I’m still a young yaar (friend). There’s still a lot of cricket in me,” he said.
Rahane’s reaction tickled Rohit Sharma’s funny bones. The India skipper, listening to Rahane’s reactions to the journalists, couldn’t contain his laughter. Here’s the video:

Rahane further added that he has been working on himself a lot and would like to perform for India without thinking about the future.
“I’ve had a good IPL and home season. I’ve become more confident as a batsman, but I’ve also been working on my fitness a lot over the past year and a half.
“I’ve been working on a few aspects of my hitting. At the moment I’m enjoying my cricket. I don’t think too much about the future. For now, every game is important to me,” he said.
Rahane returned to the team after a good Ranji season and his impressive run for Chennai Super Kings during the 2023 IPL.
