With the announcement of India’s Asia Cup T20I squad, there is ample indication of the players who will be closely watched as the T20 World Cup goes into effect. With fast bowling javelin Jasprit Bumrah missing the Asia Cup due to injury, the Indian pace bowling is manned by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan. While the veteran Bhuvneshwar is almost a certainty for the T20 World Cup squad, the latter two are expected to put in a good performance to push their cause to make it to the flagship squad. Former Indian cricket team player Sanjay Manjrekar has now given his opinion on the two young pacesetters, who come with different skills.
“There’s actually a nice race going on for that flight to Australia to get that seat in business class. You know these guys travel business class. We used to be in economy, so I say that reluctantly,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on sports 18.
“So there’s a race going on to get those business class seats to Australia. And that’s where I think you’d have to say Arshdeep Singh has caught up with Avesh Khan. Avesh Khan is slightly behind that and that’s something that’s very interesting You know this is a real competition for spots Arshdeep Singh has definitely taken a small lead over Avesh Khan because he does exactly what Avesh Khan’s role is – to hit with the new ball in the middle and also in the death to go.”
