Following the ODI series against the West Indies, Shakib Al Hasan will skip the Zimbabwe white ball tour of Bangladesh. According to the ESPNcricinfo, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim, the other three senior players, are available for the Zimbabwe tour. “Most senior players are available. They all want to play (in Zimbabwe). Shakib has informed us that he is not going. We have confirmed a team with the selectors. A full strength team is going to Zimbabwe. It is an important series “though points (the World Cup Super League) are not involved. But we want to do well there. A lot of people said it would be a second-class team, but no, we want to send a strong team from Bangladesh,” ESPNcricinfo was quoted as saying Jalal Yunus, chairman of BCB’s cricket operations, says.
“Tamim will let us know, maybe after this series or at the end of July,” Yunus said.
“He had asked for time until July and he would inform us in August. He will inform at the end of July, or at the beginning of August. We don’t have to give reminders. We have had enough meetings with him. So there is nothing to remind him, he added.
“He hasn’t even told us if he’s available for the World Cup (T20). Forget the World Cup, it’s important whether or not he will play against T20Is. We were always positive and wanted him. The decision is his. we don’t,” Yunus said.
