Rohit Sharma to lead Team India in Test and ODIs
India captain Rohit Sharma is highly respected by his peers and is often described as an easy guy to get along with. Rohit’s communication with players on the field has also given fans a glimpse into the style of his captaincy. India all-rounder Axar Patel delved into the subject and explained how Rohit gives bowlers complete freedom to execute plans but also likes to do his own homework beforehand, strategizing ahead of matches, not just for the opposition but for individual players as well.
“Simple base you have a“He doesn't like to complicate things. He comes in after learning his lessons. He knows which bowler will be used in which situation and which one won't and then he leaves it to the bowlers,” Axar said in a chat with Vimal Kumar on YouTube.
“He doesn't bother much with the bowlers. Yes, if I ask that I want this and I'm planning this, he will give it without any qualms. But if that didn't work, then he would come in and suggest that maybe it didn't work and say I think something else would be better,” he added.
Axar said that he had a good understanding with Rohit. They never had to argue over a decision, even if they took a different decision.
“I've never had a fight with him, at least not me. The relationship between us is so good that I've never had a fight with him and never disagreed with him,” he added.
“Rohit as a captain doesn't think that a left-hander can't bowl to a left-handed batter or a right-hander can't bowl to a right-handed batter. That's the sign of a captain whether you can recognise the strength of the bowler and know that this person can get you out of a difficult situation,” he concluded.
