In what is a major blow to the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma has been banned from the upcoming three-match Test series against South Africa. The batter suffered a left hamstring injury during training in Mumbai and has been replaced by Priyank Panchal. After BCCI made the official announcement on Monday, fans took to Twitter to wish Rohit good luck with his recovery, also calling the development “unlucky”. One fan tweeted: “For someone who spoke so well of the work he did for the England tour, the process he went through, the success he ultimately had, this must be a heartbreaking development. Such a shame for Rohit Sharma and also disturbing that it’s a hamstring.”
For someone who spoke so well of the work he put in for the UK tour, the process he went through, the success he ultimately had, this must have been a heartbreaking development. Such a shame for Rohit Sharma and also worried it’s a hamstring.#SAVIND

After recently beating New Zealand in a red ball series, India is slated to meet South Africa in a three-match test series from December 26. The first match will be held in Centurion.
Rohit was recently appointed as India’s full-time captain, taking over from Virat Kohli. Kohli still remains as India’s Test skipper, while Rohit was elevated to the position of vice captain.
