Suryakumar Yadav once again captivated the cricket fans with his breathtaking performance, this time on Sunday at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. The right-handed batsman smashed a 49-ball century in India’s second T20I against New Zealand. In total, Suryakumar scored 111 not from 51 balls. The Indian side initially struggled to get going in the match after being invited to bat first by New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, but once Suryakumar took the lead, he kept India at the helm until the end of the innings.
Suryakumar’s century helped India achieve a competitive total of 191 for 6 in 20 overs against New Zealand. The batter only returned after 11 fours and 7 sixes.
After his century, social media was flooded with congratulations and funny memes. Check out some here:

It is worth noting that Suryakumar came in at number three for India in Virat Kohli’s absence, breaking boundaries and sixes at will. He raced to fifty in 32 balls while taking just 17 more balls to race to one hundred. His last 64 runs came from just 18 balls.
It may not look easy to the naked eye, but in his own words, Surya kept it “simple” and executed his amazing array of strokes according to the field placements.
When the spinners threw it full on the stump he was happy to play the inside out shot over cover and when the faster bowlers aimed his stumps at good length he helped sail the ball some sixes down the fine leg. In total, Surya collected 11 fours and seven sixes.
