Lockie Ferguson hit a six when it took 5 runs on 2 balls
New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson proved the hero for the Auckland Aces on Monday during their Super Smash match against the Central Districts at Palmerston North Stadium. With five runs needed on the last two deliveries, Ferguson hit a six on Joey Field’s bowling to help the Aces seal the win. It was another ‘deja vu’ as Trent Boult, who played for the Northern Districts, had delivered a similar feat in a match against Canterbury last week.
With six runs needed on the last ball, Boult had knocked Ed Nuttall over the deep mid-wicket for a massive six.
Spark Sport’s official Twitter handle posted a video of Ferguson crushing Field for a six on the penultimate delivery.
“Lockie Ferguson is channeling his inner Trent Boult,” the video’s caption read.

After winning the toss, the Central Districts chose to bat first against the Aces.
Greg Hay scored a brilliant 52 from just 45 balls, while Bailey Wiggins (37) and Dane Cleaver (42) also played handy pats at the top of the order as the Districts scored a total of 168/5.
In response, Martin Guptill was chasing for the Aces with 79 of just 58 balls.
Ferguson proved to be the hero, however, as the visitors won the game with four wickets and one ball left. He had taken two for 24 during the Northern Districts innings.

Despite the defeat, the Districts remained at the top after 5 games with 14 points.
Aces, on the other hand, recorded just their second win of the ongoing Super Smash campaign.
