The Champions Trophy 2025 started on Wednesday with a competition between Pakistan and Nieuw -Zeeland in Karachi. The Champions Trophy 2025 marks a return from ICC events to Pakistan after a long gap. While previously the Champions trophy had to be organized entirely in Pakistan, after the BCCI's objection to send the Indian cricket team to the country, a hybrid model was followed. Prior to the Champions trophy there was also a row over no Indian flags in the Karachi stage.
During the Pakistan vs Nieuw -Zeelandse competition on Wednesday, however, the Indian flag was prominently hoisted at the Karachi Stadium. There was a mixed response with regard to the same. While some Indian fans took the opportunity to troll users of social media in Pakistan, the fans of Pakistan said it proved how Groothart they were.
