They defeated Bangladesh in their quarterfinals by five wickets to advance to the semifinals. Meanwhile, Australia was equally good at the World Cup this year, beating Pakistan by 119 runs in their quarter-finals. The Aussies lost one game leading up to the semifinals; their last group match against Sri Lanka. This is also the fourth time India and Australia have faced each other in a knockout match in the U-19 World Cup.
