India are looking to set a record-breaking fifth U19 World Cup title when they face England in the final of the current edition at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North-South, Antigua on Saturday. India defeated Bangladesh in the quarter-finals last week, before beating Australia by 96 runs in the semi-finals earlier this week. This will be India’s fourth consecutive appearance in the U19 World Cup finals, but they have lost two of their last three meetings at the summit. England, on the other hand, played just one final before, taking the title 24 years ago.
Before the duel on the summit, let’s take a look at how India could fare against England in the 2022 U19 World Cup final:
India Predicted XI vs England in the 2022 U19 World Cup Final:
1. Angkrish Raghuvanshi
Angkrish Raghuvanshi only scored 6 runs in the semi-final against Australia. However, India’s leading go-getter in the tournament so far is expected to maintain his place in the game. Raghuvanshi has so far scored 278 points in 5 matches, an average of 55.6. He is also fourth in the overall list of points scorers in the ongoing tournament.
2. Harnoor Singh
Like his opening partner, Harnoor Singh also failed to impress against Australia. The left-hander has not displayed the same prowess that he had shown leading up to the tournament. However, the duel at the top against England would be the perfect opportunity to finally make his mark on the tournament.
3. Shaik Rasheed
So far, India has done quite a bit of chopping and switching in their top and middle tiers in this tournament. However, Vice Captain Shaik Rasheed has shown on multiple occasions that he is the right man for the number 3 slot.
4. Yash Dhull (capt.)
The current crop’s leader, Yash Dhull, place in the playing XI is a good idea. With India in a tricky situation in the semi-finals, Dhull led from the front, hit a run-a-ball 110 and laid the groundwork for his team’s victory. He will hope to repeat his exploits, if not better, in the final against England.
5. Raj Bawa
Raj Bawa is India’s second highest finisher in the ongoing tournament, with 217 runs in four matches at an average of over 72. Bawa didn’t get a chance to bat in the semi-finals and will hope to score big again, if the opportunity occurs this time.
6. Rajvardhan Hangargekar
Rajvardhan Hangargekar has been a breath of fresh air for the Indian team so far. Aside from his exploits with the ball, Hangargekar has shown signs of a deadly finisher with the bat. He has been quite frugal in the tournament and has also put in some crucial runs for the team.
7. Dinesh Bana (World Cup)
Dinesh Bana will likely keep the wickets and keep his place in the playing XI. Bana has been pretty good with his glove job and looks like a bright future. While he hasn’t hit that much so far, his 20 four-ball against Australia should be enough to justify his place.
8. Dinesh Sindhu
Dinesh Sindhu was one of the leaders in the group and even led the team when Yash Dhull had to sit out the game against Ireland due to COVID-19. Sindhu is known for his frugal bowling and can also swing his bat when necessary.
9. Kaushal Tambe
India has a lot of depth in their percussion and the presence of Kaushal Tambe in the sequence only adds to their strength. Kaushal was excellent with the ball, despite not taking many wickets so far. He will probably stay on the team.
10. Vicky Ostwal
Vicky Ostwal has delivered the goods with the ball in the tournament so far. He is India’s leading wicket taker with 12, including a five-for, and will try to increase that number in the final.

11. Ravi Kumaric
Ravi Kumar’s in-swinger, who defeated Australian batter Teague Wyllie in the semifinals, was one of the best deliveries ever seen. Although he has only taken six wickets so far, he has thrown some unplayable deliveries into the tournament.
