India beat Bangladesh by three wickets in the second Test at Mirpur on Sunday to win the two-match series 2-0. India chased a target of 145 and resumed play on Day 4 at 45/4. The visitors lost three early wickets on Day 4 with Mehidy Hasan Miraz completing his 9th haul of five wickets. Bangladesh appeared to be in control of the game, but Shreyas Iyer and Ravichandran Ashwin put in a 71-run unbeaten run to take India across the finish line. With the win, India increased their chances of reaching the final of the World Test Championship to be played next year.
Here’s what the updated World Test Championship points table looks like:
Australia, ahead of their Boxing Day test against South Africa, top the table with a winning percentage of 76.92. The Pat Cummins-led side have played 13 games so far, winning nine of them.
India also retains second place after their series victory over Bangladesh. They have a win rate of 58.93.
South Africa also remain third in the table ahead of the second Test against Australia, which begins on Monday 26 December at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. They have a win rate of 54.55.
Sri Lanka is fourth with a winning percentage of 53.33.
England are fifth in the table after a clean win over Pakistan 3-0. The Ben Stokes-led party has a winning percentage of 46.97.
With a winning percentage of 40.91, the West Indies are in sixth place behind England.
Pakistan and New Zealand, who will play in a two-game test series from December 26, are seventh and eighth with winning percentages of 38.89 and 25.93 respectively.
Bangladesh remains at the bottom with a meager win rate of 11.11.
