Left trade turned out to be the taste on the opening day of the Irani Cup collision between Ranji Trophy champion Vidarbha and the rest of India in the VCA stage in Jamtha on the outskirts of Nagpur.
It was Manav Suthar, one of the most appreciated left -wing spinners in the country, who pulled first blood. Working with a touch of drift and sharp dip, he dismissed Dhruv Shorey (missed the turn) and the promising Danish Malewar (ahead of the goalkeeper of one who threw in the channel and enough spans) in the same to put Vidarbha back in the morning session. For a while the rest of India seemed at the top.
But Taide (118 nr, 240b, 12×4, 1×6), the compact left -handed opener and his clubmate Yash Rathod (91, 153b, 6×4, 1×6), another Southpaw with a flair for stroke game, the script changed quickly. The duo brought together a commander 184-run for the third Wicket and lifted Vidarbha in a power position.
If it had not been for their association, Vidarbha would have had trouble ending the day at 280 for five stumps on the opening day of the five -day competition.

Their partnership, characterized by calm insurance and an instinctive understanding of each other's game, was an exhibition of flowing batting. Singles were stolen, holes were pierced and the pressure was brought back methodically to the bowlers while the track ended in the afternoon sun.
Suthar, however, ensured that the rest of India did not lose full control. With the second new ball not far away, he brewed Rathod in a missteped raised drive to break the partnership and inject some life in his they. And minutes before stumps, Akash Deep-de slid some other Wicket-Taker-a lead on the edge of Captain Akshay Wadkar with the new ball.
Taide, the star of the day, enjoyed good luck in the morning session. He was bent by Akash to be pronounced alone by a no-ball call for repetition. Shortly thereafter, Ishan Kishan spilled a simple chance of the same bowler, minutes after a sharp catch to fire Shorey. Taide made full use of the explanations, roll -up fresh drives and insured draws on the way to his century. A lofted six over a long time against Suthar raised the milestone in style.
Towards the end of the day it was clear that left-handed-with bat and ball-to have left an indelible print on the game and had set up an intriguing battle for the next four days.
