India Test skipper Virat Kohli completed 100 catches in the competition’s longest format on Wednesday. Kohli achieved this feat during today’s Day 2 of the third and final Test against South Africa here in Newlands, Cape Town. The India Test skipper set the milestone when he grabbed Temba Bavuma’s catch from Mohammed Shami’s bowling alley.
The Test skipper also became the sixth Indian fielder who is not a wicket-keeper to reach the milestone.
Mohammed Shami struck crucial blows as India got the upper hand against South Africa in the second session on Day 2.
At the tea break, South Africa’s score stood at 176/7 — 47 points behind the hosts. Keegan Petersen (70*) is currently unbeaten at the limit.
Keegan Petersen and Rassie van der Dussen (21) resumed the second session on Day 2 at 100/3 adding 12 more runs to the total before the last one was scalped by Umesh Yadav in the 40th left with Proteas still trailing 111 run.
