Out-of-favour South African batsman Faf du Plessis was full of praise for his Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate and former team captain Virat Kohli. The Proteas star also praised Kohli’s energy and passion for the game of cricket, replying what kind of relationship he has with the player after taking over from him as RCB captain. Kohli, who was appointed as the permanent captain of the side in 2013, stepped down after the end of IPL 2021. Ahead of the next IPL season in 2022, RCB appointed du Plessis as skipper.
“He (Virat Kohli) is a much bigger alpha than me. You’re not trying to compete. The ego is the thing where peacocks generally clash, isn’t it? It’s when you want the feathers to come out and you want to see like who has the shiniest feather in the room. And for me, luckily I think, I understand that about people and relationships,” du Plessis said on The Grade Cricketer’s Podcast.
“Especially from a captain’s point of view… I’m not trying to outdo anyone else in the dressing room. I’m trying to build a relationship. So with Virat that was exactly my entry point,” the South African added. seizure.
Speaking further of the former RCB skipper, du Plessis said: “I’ve played against him for so long and he’s also one of the most competitive guys in world cricket to play against. You sit there and you go – how does this man Do you have that much energy Every time a wicket falls, like it doesn’t matter if it’s a number 11 or a lead-off bat, his passion for celebration is like you just have to go, ‘I take my hats off to you’. He’s superhuman.”
