Virat Kohli was spotted breaking a sweat during practice in Ahmedabad on Saturday, ahead of the opening ODI against the West Indies. India will face the Windies in a three-game ODI series in Ahmedabad, followed by a three-game T20I series in Kolkata. Kohli shared the photos on his social media profiles on Saturday. The Indian star batter shared a total of four photos. The first photo shows him running, while the next two show Kohli diving to make catches. Another photo shows Kohli hitting the nets.
Meanwhile, Kohli will be extra motivated to score a century in the upcoming three-game ODI series. Kohli has already scored nine ODI hundreds against the West Indies, which is the most by a batter in ODI’s against one opponent.
Kohli currently shares the record with Sachin Tendulkar, who scored nine ODI centuries against Australia but will take the absolute lead if he manages to reach the three-digit mark against the visiting Windies team.
However, the former India captain has not scored a century in any format since 2019. He managed to average above 35, despite not scoring a ton in 2020 and 2021.
The year 2022 has started well for the ex-Indian skipper. In four matches in different formats, he scored 224 runs at an average of 44.80.
All three matches of the ODI series against the West Indies will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The first game is scheduled for Sunday, followed by the second on February 9 and the third and final ODI on February 11.
The ODI series will be followed by a three-match T20I series that will take place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
