Former India opener Wasim Jaffer
Wasim Jaffer and Michael Vaughan’s endless duels on social media are great fodder for cricket fans as they enjoy the chatter between the two former players. Michael Vaughan had proposed Monday that the BCCI send young pacesetter Umran Malik to play county cricket. Umran’s raw pace meant that Sunrisers Hyderabad held on to him for the start of IPL 2022 and the fast bowler has impressed many former cricketers and pundits with his performance this season.
Vaughan even went ahead and wrote on Twitter that Malik is “going to play for India soon”.
“Umran Malik will play for India very soon… If I was the one” @BCCI I would send him to County cricket this summer to help him develop first… #IPL2022‘ wrote Vaughan

Known for his humorous social media posts, Jaffer posted a video of former England captain Alastair Cook doing some facial expressions while bowling in county cricket. It was clearly a dig at the quality of cricket in the provincial championships and how seriously players take it.

Many questions have been raised about the state and structure of red ball cricket in England after a horrendous 2021-22 season, in which they followed India 1-2 at home, the Ashes lost to Australia and also went away from home to a young West Indian side.
Umran Malik, meanwhile, managed to impress former India coach Ravi Shastri earlier this season as Shastri also suggested Malik has what it takes to be an Indian player.
