Former Indian skipper Mohammed Azharuddin said on Tuesday it wouldn’t hurt to take a break, but the timing needs to be better. Azharuddin’s comments came after Kohli asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in January for a break to spend some time with his family. It is important to note that Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s daughter, Vamika, will turn one on January 11, 2022.
In addition, opening batsman Rohit Sharma has been banned from participating in the Test series against South Africa, which kicks off from December 26.
“Virat Kohli has announced that he will not be available for the ODI series and Rohit Sharma will not be available for the upcoming test. It can’t hurt to take a break, but the timing needs to be better. This just confirms the speculation about the breakup. Nor will it be. giving up the other form of cricket,” Azharuddin tweeted.
