MS Dhoni will lead Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023©Twitter
Rumors about the future of MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been circulating for quite some time. While Dhoni has confirmed that he will definitely play the matches of this year’s tournament in front of the home crowd in Chennai, there is no concrete news regarding his future with Chennai Super Kings. CSK fast bowler Deepak Chahar was asked about the subject in a recent interaction and he had an extremely interesting answer to the question.
“Nobody said this would be his last year. At least, he hasn’t. Hopefully he will play more often. We don’t know anything like that, we want him to play as much as possible,” Chahar told News India Sports.
“He knows when to stop, we saw it when he did in Tests and international cricket. No one else knows. I just hope he continues to play, it’s a privilege to play under him. It was a dream to play with him. He also has good contact, you will see that when he hits in the IPL this year,” he added.
Dhoni will lead CSK in the 2023 season and he previously expressed his excitement about playing in front of a home crowd after a long time.
“Sure. It’s a simple reason, it will be unfair not to play in Chennai and say thank you [to the fans]. Mumbai is a place where I have a lot of love and affection as a team and as an individual. But it wouldn’t be fun for the CSK fans,” Dhoni said of his future.
“And also, hopefully next year there will be an opportunity where the teams will travel, so it will be a thank you to all the different places where we’ll be playing games in different locations. Whether it’s going to be my senior year or not that’s a big question because, you know, we can’t really predict anything two years down the road. But I will definitely work hard to come back strong next year,” he added.
