As many as 120 players, including 91 Indians, 29 from abroad and three Associate Nations players, will go under the hammer for 19 spots at the Women's Premier League mini-auction to be held in Bengaluru on December 15. A total of 82 uncapped Indian players and eight uncapped foreign players have registered for the auction. Gujarat Giants will go into the exercise with the largest purse of Rs 4.4 crore. They need four players, including two from abroad, from the mini-auction.
While UP Warriorz will have three spots to fill, including one foreign player, the other three teams, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals will have four spots each to fill. RCB has run out of room to find another foreign player.
India's Sneh Rana (base price Rs 30 lakh) could be one of the main attractions at the auction, which will also feature West Indies' Deandra Dottin (Rs 50 lakh), who did not play for Gujarat Giants in the first edition after he was selected and went unsold in the second.
England's Heather Knight (Rs 50 lakh) will also feature in the first set after withdrawing from the second WPL auction, which was held in Bengaluru and New Delhi.
However, the list does not include England bowler Issy Wong, who claimed the competition's first-ever hat-trick, nor New Zealand's Leah Tahuhu.
Wong was released by the franchise prior to the third season.
