Wriddhiman Saha took to social media platform Koo on Tuesday to explain why he is not revealing the name of the “journalist” who had sent him “threatening” messages for saying no to an interview. Saha had shared a screenshot on Sunday of messages he received from the “journalist” following the Indian selection committee’s decision to remove him from the Test squad for the two-match series against Sri Lanka.
“I was hurt and offended. I thought I would not tolerate such behavior and did not want anyone to go through this kind of bullying. I decided I would go out and make the chat public, but not his/her name.
“My nature is not such that I will harm anyone to the extent that someone’s career is ended. So on the grounds of humanity looking at his/her family, I will not disclose the name for the time being. But if such repetition occurs, I won’t hold me back. I thank everyone who has shown support and is willing to help. My gratitude,” Saha wrote in a thread of three Koo posts.
The 37-year-old had claimed via Twitter that a “respected journalist” took an aggressive tone after refusing to give him an interview.
After all my contributions to Indian cricket…this is what I’m dealing with from a so called “respected” journalist! This is where journalism has disappeared. pic.twitter.com/woVyq1sOZX

People like Virender Sehwag, Ravi Shastri, Pragyan Ojha and Harbhajan Singh supported Saha. While Shastri asked BCCI president Sourav Ganguly to intervene, Ojha and Harbhajan urged Saha to name the journalist in question.
BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal told PTI news agency on Monday that the board will speak to Saha about his tweet.
“Yes, we will ask Wriddhiman about his tweet and what is the real incident that happened. We need to know if he was threatened and also the background and context of his tweet. I cannot say more. The secretary (Jay Shah) will definitely speak to Wriddhiman,” BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal told PTI on Monday.
Saha, who has played 40 tests for the country, was told after the South Africa tour by head coach Rahul Dravid that the team would be leaving him and that he could make a decision about his career.

Saha had revealed dressing room talks with Dravid but the head coach said “he was not injured” because he respects the cricketer and just wanted to give him a fair and clear picture of his position. Saha had also claimed in an interview that BCCI president Sourav Ganguly texted him to ensure he would never be kicked out of the team until he was at the helm of things.
