The diversity of cuisines that make up the Queens mosaic is explored in an online exhibition through objects important to 50 chefs. Among those telling their stories are Chintan Pandya of Adda with his skewers, and Anastasia Tjahjadi (known as Dewi) of Warung Selasa with a volcanic stone mortar and pestle. Drew Kerr, a Queens communications consultant, created the project, took the photos and interviewed the chefs with the help of Joe DiStefano, a Queens food writer and publicist, and Jonathan Forgash, a founder of Queens Together, a non-profit. for-profit organization that has restaurants in the neighborhood. They were not paid for their work.
