Stock market updates: Sensex falls 100 points, Nifty nears 19,950; IT shares are dragging along – News18

Sensex today: Domestic markets opened with fractional losses on Wednesday, tracking weakness against their global peers, as investors await US inflation data later today. The BSE Sensex index fell 157 points to 67,063, while the Nifty50 index fell 26 points to 19,966.

HCL Tech, TCS, HDFC Life, Asian Paints, Wipro, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Adani Ports were the top laggards in the two benchmarks. while Power Grid, Dr Reddy’s, Sun Pharma, BPCL, ONGC, M&M and Tata Motors were the biggest gainers.

The broader markets were mixed. The BSE MidCap index was flat, while the SmallCap index rose 0.8 percent, recovering slightly from the previous day’s 4 percent decline.
