Asian stocks rose and the dollar fluctuated on Wednesday as investors waited for US inflation data and the results of the US midterm elections, which could signal a power shift in Washington.
Tokyo shares opened higher on Wednesday, encouraging investors to buy following Wall Street rallies as the US midterm elections dominate attention. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index rose 0.15 percent or 41.56 points to 27,913.67, while the broader Topix index added 0.05 percent or 1.00 points to 1,958.56.
Wall Street ended higher on Tuesday in the midterm vote that will determine control of the US Congress, with investors betting on a political stalemate that could prevent major policy changes.
