Sensex Today: Domestic markets got off to a solid start on Tuesday morning amid positive global sentiment.
Sensex Today: Domestic markets got off to a lukewarm start on Tuesday morning as positive global sentiment failed to improve domestic investor sentiment. Major indices Nifty50 remained just below 17,400 levels, while the S&P BSE Sensex traded close to 59,246 levels.
Sector-wise, the Nifty Auto, Nifty Media indices rose to 0.8 percent, while the Nifty Pharma index fell to 1 percent. Between individual stocks, Zee Entertainment rose more than 4 percent after NCLAT suspended NCLT insolvency proceedings against the media company.
Global signals
Globally, US markets rose overnight, with Dow Jones, the S&P 500 and NASDAQ Composite rising as much as 0.6 percent.
Asia-Pacific markets also rallied slightly higher, as the Nikkei 225, S&P 200, Topix, Kosdaq and Kospi indices rose as much as 1 percent.
In the commodity basket, Brent Crude prices fell marginally to $82 a barrel, while WTI Crude rose marginally to $76 a barrel.
