For the first time in almost 10 years, one Berkshire Hathaway Employee claimed the $ 1 million Grand Prix of Warren Buffett for the NCAA bracket match of his company.
An anonymous employee of Aviation Training Company Flightsafety International, a subsidiary of Buffett's Berkshire, won the annual internal bracket match after called 31 of the 32 games in the first round of the men's basketball tournament, according to a statement.
The 94-year-old Oracle of Omaha was finally able to spend the big prize after relaxing the rules several times since the founding of the competition in 2016. Originally Wilde Buffett, a basketball fan of Creighton, awarding everyone who could predict the Sweet 16 perfectly.
Then, in 2024, after the Jackpot remained unclaimed, the participants got the advantage that they have the results of the eight games under the seeds no. 1 and no. 2 and no. 2. Yet nobody cracked the code.
This year the rules were changed again, so everyone who chooses the winners of at least 30 of the 32 First round matches of the tournament would be eligible to win the prize.
In fact, 12 Berkshire employees guessed 31 of the 32 First Round Games correctly. The prize of $ 1 million went to the person of that group who chose 29 games successively for a loss. That winner then chose 44 of the 45 games correctly.
The other 11 participants each get $ 100,000.
