The GST Council on Saturday decided to restrict the maximum age of president and members of the GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT).
The maximum age limit for the GSTAT president is 70 years, while the limit for members is 67 years.

Lawyers must have a minimum of ten years of experience to be eligible for appointment as a judicial member of the GST Appellate Tribunal.
The 52nd meeting of the GST Council, chaired by the Union Finance Minister and comprising state colleagues, also decided to levy a lower tax of 5 per cent on millet-based flour when delivered in pre-packed and labeled form sold, said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Council also decided to reduce VAT on molasses from 28 percent to 5 percent, and to exempt alcohol for human consumption from the levy.
Flour, which contains at least 70 percent millet, will attract zero percent VAT if sold loose, and 5 percent if sold pre-packed and labelled.
