It’s been about 45 days since the due date for filing income tax returns, and the income tax department has already started refunding eligible taxpayers. The Income Tax Department (IT) has said that until September 8, 2022, income tax refunds of Rs 1.19 lakh crore have been issued, which is 65.29 percent higher than the refunds issued during the corresponding period of the previous year.

However, there may be people who have not yet received their tax refund. This can happen for several reasons.
Why has my ITR refund been delayed?
This can be due to various reasons, but first you should check whether your income tax refund has already been processed by the department. You can only receive the refund after their ITR has been processed and the tax authorities confirm the same. You are only eligible for a refund if the tax authorities confirm this.
Another reason that you have not received your tax refund may be that your bank account has not been pre-verified. You can check if there was an error pre-validating your bank account by logging into the e-filing portal and checking if your bank account is related to your PAN.
Otherwise, the repayment may be deferred if you have an outstanding receivable from the previous financial year. In this scenario, the Tax and Customs Administration adjusts your refund to that request.
If the amount to be received is less than Rs 100, the income tax department will not credit it to your bank account. In that case, the amount will be settled with future income tax refunds.
