The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamil Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has kicked off the UP Board Class 10 and Class 12 exams 2022 from Thursday, March 24. Shockingly, on the first day of the exam, more than 4.18 lakh students from both 10th and 12th grades passed the UP Boards exams. In the first session of the exam, 2,61,120 students were absent and in the second 1,57,387 students were absent.
While it is not uncommon for examiners to drop out on exam opening day, this is the highest number of students who dropped out of UP boards in recent years. In 2020, about 2.4 lakh students dropped out on the first day. While in 2019 nearly 6.49 lakh candidates had dropped out. However, the UP record for exam dropout was created in 2018 when 11 lakh students skipped the board exams, TOI reported.

UP Board states that strict anti-fraud measures are the cause of high absences. Before and during the exam, the additional head secretary of secondary education, Aradhana Shukla, inspected the exam centers. The officials were given strict instructions to take measures to curb cheating. In this regard, cameras have been placed at exam centers, instructions have been given to students to take off their shoes and socks during the exam period, and cell phones and any electronic device are not prohibited during the exam.
This year, a total of 51.92 lakh students had registered for the 10 and 12 class exams. Out of a total of 27 lakh were from class 10 and 24 lakh were from class 12. Of the total registered candidates, 2,61,120 students were from class 10 failed the exam and 1,57,387 students of class 12 dropped the exam, making a total of 4.18 lakhs of missing students.
UP Board Exams 2022: Drop In Registration
The number of students registered to sit in the 2022 board exams is less than 2021. More than 51 lakhs students have registered to sit in the UP board class 10 and 12 2022 exams. This year, the total is number of registered students decreased by five lakhs compared to last year.
Last year, as many as 56,03,813 students had completed registration for UPMSP Class 10 and 12 Exam 2021. Nearly 29,94,312 candidates had registered to appear for Class 12 Board Exam 2021 and 26.09,501 for Class 10 Board Exam. This year, due to the pandemic, all classes were also given online.
According to the UPMSP schedule, the Class 10 and 12 2022 exams will be held from March 24 and last until April 12. The Uttar Pradesh Administration Exams will be held in two shifts. Morning shift exams are held between 8 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. while the evening shift times are from 2 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
