A PCR call was received at Sagarpur Police Station stating that about 70 grade 6 – 8 boys reported vomiting after a midday meal at Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya.
About 70 students were hospitalized on Friday after reportedly eating a midday meal at a government school in southwestern Delhi, Dabri, officials said.
The Delhi government has issued a warning to the supplier of midday meals, they said.
“All the children were in a stable condition,” said a Delhi government official, adding that midday meal providers have been warned to ensure that the schoolchildren receive proper food.
“Anyone found guilty of the incident will not be spared,” the official said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South West) Manoj C said a PCR call was received at Sagarpur Police Station at around 6pm, saying that about 70 grades VI to VIII boys reported vomiting after a midday meal in the Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya School, Durga Park in Sagarpur.
“The students were transferred to DDU Hospital and Dada Dev Hospital in Dabri. The school authorities stated that the students were given soy juice after the midday meal, which caused stomach pain and vomiting,” he said.
The crime team was called to the scene and the remains of the food and juice were seized, the officer said.
“Puri subji was served during the midday meal, followed by soy juice to the students. When the students complained of pain, further distribution of food and juice was halted. All students are stable from now on,” said the DCP.
An FIR will be registered and an investigation into the matter will be conducted, he added.
