After upskilling, professionals witness a 126% increase in average salary: survey

In the past three years, professionals have witnessed an increase in their salary of more than 126 percent after retraining, according to Scaler’s assessment report. The survey among 2,087 graduates. They have witnessed an average salary of 21.6 LPA, a median salary of 17.5 LPA and a placement rate of 93.5 percent.

The highest domestic salary earned stands at 3.03 crores. The average salary for students with 6-10 years of work experience is 31.9 LPA, while students with more than 10 years of experience received packages averaging 57.1 LPA.

The KPMG-Scaler Commissioned report revealed that India’s software engineers are seeing tremendous career growth and finding meaningful jobs after taking upskilling courses.

The report also noted that the average increase in salaries they received after joining the new company is 67.8 percent, with 31.8 percent of alumni being promoted in the job they joined.

The report also highlighted the sectors hardest hit by this upskilling boom. These include technology solutions with an influx of professionals at 14.1 percent, financial technologies at 13.9 percent, e-commerce & retail at 13.7 percent and consumer technology at 8.2 percent of trained professionals. The top 25 employers for skilled professionals across India are Amazon, Microsoft and Delhivery in the top 3.

Abhimanyu Saxena, co-founder of Scaler and InterviewBit, said: “As the edtech players recognize this skills gap in the industry, the tech upskilling offered today has given Indian techies aspiring to work at product a second life. Our software engineer skills programs, lasting just a year or less, have made a significant difference to the tech organizations. We have successfully developed a skills ecosystem that understands the needs of the tech players and created programs that students can use part-time along with their job. Scaler is one of the most powerful tools for engineers who want to dream big in this industry.”
