Since the Bihar Board has decided to hold board exams despite the pandemic, the state government has started to inoculate all students appearing for class 10 and 12 exams. The state government has aimed to vaccinate all board aspirants by January 26.
The state health department has written a letter asking district magistrates (DMs) and civil surgeons to assemble a district and block-level task force to lead the COVID-19 vaccine.
On January 14, the health department turned to authorities to prioritize the vaccination of board-appearing students in the 15-18 age group. Pratyay Amrit, additional chief secretary of the health department, told Hindustan Times that the nationwide campaign to vaccinate adolescents is already underway. Given the high number of students expected to take state council exams in the coming months, the state is committed to vaccinating students who fall into the eligible age bracket for student health.
“Such schools that are 100 percent vaccinated during the special drive will be celebrated on the occasion of the Republic Day,” Amrit said by HT.
More than 1 lakh students between the ages of 15 and 17 were vaccinated in Bihar between January 3 and 14. A total of 48 vaccination camps have been set up in the urban areas to target eligible students. Vaccination centers are being set up in various private and government schools to facilitate the inoculation of the adolescent group, said Patna DM Chandra Shekhar Singh
More than 32 lakh students have registered to take class 12 and class 10 exams this year conducted by various boards of education. The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has scheduled the exams for class 10 from 17 to 24 February. The class 12 exam will be held from February 1 to 14.
Moreover, about 2 lakh students will appear in the CBSE board exam from Patna zone (including Bihar and Jharkhand) and 18,000 students are likely to appear in the board exam held by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE).
