Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra recently spoke about the increasing problem of student death by suicide in Kota, Rajasthan. In his post, he expressed his concerns about the enormous tension students feel when studying for exams. Responding to a comment on X (formally known as Twitter), business tycoon Anand Mahindra sympathized with the students and offered comfort through his words about the increasing suicide incidents in Kota. He further encouraged students to ‘find’ themselves first rather than prove their worth at this stage of life.
“I am as disturbed as you are by this news. Tragic to see so many bright futures wiped out. I have no great wisdom to share. But I would like to tell every student in Kota that your goal at this stage of life is not to prove yourself, but to FIND yourself,” Anand Mahindra’s post read.
“Failure in an exam is simply part of a journey of self-examination. It means your real talents lie elsewhere. Keep searching, keep traveling. Ultimately, you will discover – and discover – what brings out the best in you,” the entrepreneur added.

Mahindra’s post received a lot of support from people on X. Since it was shared, the post has garnered over 3,000 likes and over 400 reposts.
On August 27, two students, preparing for competitive exams, died by suicide in the country’s coaching capital in the space of four hours – bringing the total to 23 this year.
More than two lakh students travel to Kota every year to prepare for competitive tests such as the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for admission into engineering universities and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for those seeking admission into medical colleges want. Students undergo intensive preparation to pass competitive tests.
