Anant National University has launched a master’s program in architecture. The two-year, full-time postgraduate program aims to bridge the gap between theoretical precedents and practice in architecture. The students can learn theories to explore new ways in architectural thinking, develop groundbreaking design projects and redefine forms of architectural practice, the institute said. The latest application date is July 24 at anu.edu.in.
Designed for students with architectural backgrounds, the program aims to build a critical lens to redefine and reshape architecture as a synergy of history, theory and practice. The program will also help develop a critical understanding of theories and make real social contributions using architecture as a means of expression. It is a constructive, collaborative, reflective and research-based course, the institute added.
The MArch program enables students to consolidate their formative education and their real-world experiences through the development of a deeper, more critical understanding through reading histories, theories, and futures of architecture and its application.
In the second year, students will explore and express the position of advanced technology in architecture and are encouraged to curate content through research and design to express their perspectives. The pedagogy will encourage students to pursue their original thoughts with solid academic support of existing concepts and how to build on them, the institute added.
Ar Rajeev Kathpalia, Chair Professor, School of Architecture, AnantU and partner, Vastu Shilpa Consultants, said of the launch: “With climate change, rapid changes in technology, increasing use of artificial intelligence and consequent changes in social structures, architects will better must be equipped to deal with this emerging world. The Anant University master’s program – Theory and Practice aims to provide students with a critical lens to redefine and reimagine architecture as a synergy of theory and practice, through science in social sciences and technology and to redefine practice as a process of developing a collective responsibility for society.”
