IIT is one of the most prestigious institutes in the country.
Those who can clear the main exams followed by the advanced ones will be allowed to join the IITs.
Most Indian students who pursue science in grade 11 dream of getting into the country’s coveted institutes to study engineering. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is considered one of the most prestigious institutes in the country. It has several branches in different cities. People from all over the country come to these colleges to fulfill their dreams. To get admission into an IIT, students have to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). JEE is conducted in two parts, Mains and Advanced. Those who can clear the main exams followed by the advanced ones will be allowed to join the IITs. Let’s take a look at the marks and rank required in JEE Advanced to secure a seat in an IIT.
According to reports, admission to graduate level engineering courses at IIT depends on the marks and rank obtained in JEE Advanced. Admission to a masters level course like MTech depends on the GATE scores. According to reports, around 10 lakh students appear for the JEE Main exam every year. After JEE Advanced, only 16,000 candidates get admission into IIT. It is believed that students must have a rank of at least 6,000 to get admission into the prestigious IITs.
It has also been found that those who can score 40 percent in JEE Advanced can reach up to 6,000 ranks. The overall score varies every year, but a rank below 6,000 can be considered a safe zone. Statistics have also shown that a student who scores more than 40 percent has the ability to obtain such a rank that he can get admission in a good branch of IIT.
The cutoff for IIT this year will also be released based on the opening and closing ranks of JEE Advanced 2024. The JEE Advanced cutoff for IITs will be available on the JoSAA website. Candidates who will appear for the JEE Advanced exam in 2024 will have to obtain a score equal to the prescribed cut-off rank to get admission into their preferred institutes. There are several factors that determine the cutoffs such as seat availability, previous year’s cutoff trends, total number of registrations and the difficulty level of the exam.
