The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a Japanese retail group, Fast Retailing to provide BHU students with internship opportunities in India and Japan, through the Japanese Business Culture Program, Global Management Program and Internship Opportunity at UNIQLO India .
As part of this three-year collaboration, selected undergraduate and postgraduate BHU students (approximately 30-100 of them) would be exposed to the UNIQLO business model, Japanese culture, language and society. Under the initiative, online classes will also be taught by UNIQLO and partner universities in Japan such as Waseda University, Kyoto University, Tokyo University of Foreign Languages. Upon completion of the program, students receive certificates from these universities.

“As part of the Global Management Program, three BHU students (UG and PG) will have the opportunity of business sessions with global market specialists to learn more about global industry and business. The five-day session will take place in Japan, for which all costs, including travel, lodging, boarding, etc. will be borne by UNIQLO. The selection of students for these sessions has already been made,” the institute said in its press release.
Speaking of the internship, the institute claimed that BHU students will also have an internship position at UNIQLO India. Five selected students (UG and PG) can do a one-month internship in New Delhi or any other UNIQLO location in India. This will be a sponsored internship for which students will receive a stipend and certificates.
