Rather, the recruitment of educators was done at panchayat, block and district levels (called units). However, now it is only carried out in a centralized manner at the district level. So there would be no room for irregularities in the recruitment process, Minister Chandrashekhar said.
According to reports, about 1.5 lakh teachers (from primary to +2 stage) are expected to be appointed based on the revised guidelines in the seventh stage. The recruitment will start from the +2 schools up to the primary schools. Reports indicate that about 9,362 upgraded secondary schools in Bihar are facing severe shortage of subject teachers. Thus, the appointment in these schools will be made first to ensure their regular academic activities.
Meanwhile, Amit Vikram, president of the state TET Teachers’ Association, requested that the draft guidelines for teacher recruitment finalized by the education department be uploaded into the public domain to invite suggestions or comments from all stakeholders. He also stated that well-organized arrangements should be made to expedite the appointment of teachers against all vacant posts. So that students do not suffer from a lack of teachers in the schools.
During the teacher recruitment process, there are reports that the government of Bihar has started firing hundreds of primary school teachers. The state government made this decision because the aspiring teachers could not acquire or complete the mandatory training by the extended deadline of October 19, 2022 to meet the prescribed minimum qualifications mandated under the Right to Education Act.
