The Bihar Board interim and matric board exams, which are scheduled to start from February 1, will be held as scheduled, Bihar Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary told News18 Hindi. The statement came amid speculation of a delay amid a rise in Covid-19 cases across the country. More than 30 lakh students have completed the Bihar Board registration forms this year.
Chaudhary assured students that despite the large number of candidates serving on the boards, BSEB will ensure the health and safety of students. “Inter and matric exams will be taken on time. The exams will be held under a strict coronavirus protocol,” he said.
Also last year, when almost all boards had canceled their exams, Bihar Board held its class 10 and 12 exams and declared the result based on the written tests while most boards had come up with an alternative assessment policy. However, later on, BSEB was unable to conduct compartment exams and decided to promote students who failed the written exam.
In another new rule, this year, Bihar Board will also allow students to enter the exam center with an Aadhaar card. Students who have an error in their admission card, who have no or distorted photo on their admission card, will be required to present a photo ID to access the examination hall. This can also be voter cards, passbooks, PAN, etc. The Bihar Board Admission Cards are expected to be released on January 20.
Bihar Board also designed an app for board exams. Students, teachers and other stakeholders can get the details about exams on the app. This includes the daily update on attendance, the number of students who have taken or missed the exam and the excluded candidates.
This year’s exams start on February 1 for inter-students and end on February 14. Class 10 exams will be held from February 17 to 24. The exams of the management will be taken in two shifts. The first shift will be held from 9.30am to 12.45pm and the second shift will be held from 1.45pm to 5pm. Although the exam lasts three hours, students are given 15 minutes to read the questionnaire.
