The current age limit for direct recruitment for civil services and civilian positions in the state government is 32 years, with an age easing of 5 years for APST candidates
The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet has agreed to raise the age limit for state civil service examinations for general candidates to 35 and scheduled tribes to 40, an official statement said.
The decision was made on Saturday at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
The Cabinet approved the amendments to Rule 3 of the Arunachal Civil Services and Civil Posts (Upper Age Limit for Direct Recruitment) Rules, according to which the maximum age for state civil service examinations will be 35 years for general and 40 years for APST candidates. The proposed maximum age also applies, as a one-time relaxation for all those candidates who applied for direct recruitment examinations, but the examinations have been canceled or postponed by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) in 2022 due to administrative reasons, an official said communiqué here on Sunday.

This benefit is given to the candidates as of the closing date for receipt of applications against advertisements from the APPSC for respective examinations.
Khandu had announced on 22 November last year that the upper limit for APPSC exams will be increased by three years.
The current age limit for direct recruitment for public services and civilian positions in the state government is 32 years, with an age easing of 5 years for APST candidates. However, the cabinet insisted that there will be no change in the maximum age for direct recruitment for the position of assistant professor, currently 37 years (42 years for APST).
With the vision of making Arunachal Pradesh a sporting powerhouse, the cabinet also approved the creation of 30 new posts in the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, the communiqué said.
Among the posts created are 20 District Sports Officers (DSO) posts.
This move will strengthen the sports department and enable it to work more efficiently for athletes and athletes, the statement said.
