The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 and Class 12 exam dates have been announced for winter-bound schools for the 2022-23 exams.
“As per the stipulations, the practical exams, project or internal assessment for the 2022-23 session is scheduled from January 1, 2023 for all affiliated schools in India and abroad. However, the schools in the winter-bound areas are expected to remain closed in January due to the winter season. Accordingly, the exams for both grades 10 and 12 for winter-bound schools will be conducted from Nov. 15, 2022 to Dec. 14, 2022,” an official statement from CBSE said.
The schools conducting practical exams/projects/internal assessments ensure full compliance with all instructions from the central/state governments, local agencies and other legal organizations regarding the COVID pandemic.
To avoid crowds and social distancing, schools may consider splitting the group/batch of students into subgroups of 10 students each. The first group of 10 students may attend the lab work, the other may do pen and paperwork and vice versa.
CBSE has issued a notification for internal assessments/project assessments/practical exams.
The schools will prepare a final list of candidates and ensure that no student of the schools is allowed to take the practical exam, project or internal assessment if their name has not been submitted to the board in the online LOC.

The board has instructed the CBSE schools to contact the regional office to schedule appointments for external examiners and observers, to ensure that exams are ready on time and to send answer keys and price lists to the regional offices.
The board also states that regular sitting schools will not be affected by the practical exam dates and instructions because these only apply to schools that are winter-bound.
Students can also check the official website for all important details regarding the practical exams and further board exams.
In addition, there will also be a change in the exam pattern before 2023, whereby the CBSE offers more internal choices. This makes the exams more competency-oriented and less stressful. The board has also revised the syllabus. After nearly two years of holding the 10th and 12th exams in a restricted syllabus, CBSE is going back to a 100 percent syllabus.
