The Central Council for Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the exams of period 2 from April 26, the board has officially announced. The detailed datasheet of CBSE term 1 for classes 10 and 12 is yet to be announced. It is also awaiting the CBSE results of the first term that were scheduled for the dates of the second term. Some of the students had previously asked the board to announce the semester 2 exam dates before the semester 1 results to ensure that their exam preparation is not affected.

Unlike semester 1, students are assigned different exam centers for semester 2 exams. This comes after allegations of fraud in semester 1 exams. While claims that certain schools helped students take exams to the board could not be proven, CBSE has decided to allocate exam centers for second-semester theses. The board said in the official announcement, “Students will appear in the exam of the assigned exam centers as it has been done in previous years.”
“The 1st exams have already been taken by the board. The board, after consultation with various stakeholders and taking into account the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the country, has decided to only conduct the second term exams offline,” the board said in an official message.
A large proportion of the students had asked CBSE not to hold any semester 2 exams at all. The students had not demanded exams, claiming it was unfair for their party to have two board exams, as the party had none for them. Other students also claimed that their preparations in online classes were not in order.
CBSE semester 2 exams will be held on a different pattern than the term 1 exams. The exams of semester 1 and semester 2 together form the final result. The term 2 exams will be theoretical while the term 1 exams were MCQ exams only. As previously disclosed by CBSE, term 2 exams have short type and long questions. The exam has an internal choice and lasts two hours. The theory paper is for 80 points, while the rest of the points will be spent on internal assessment or practical exercises. The assignment of grades for theory and practice changes from subject to subject. CBSE has also released sample papers for students’ clarity.
The Term 1 and Term 2 exams have 50 percent of the syllabus. Each term is taken into consideration to create the final result. The final results will only be announced after the examinations of period 2. No student will be declared a pass or fail based on the score of period 1 alone.
