Amid an ongoing dip in COVID-19 cases, the Chandigarh government has announced it will reopen schools and coaching institutes at full capacity from February 14. at full capacity in hybrid (offline or online mode) for all classes effective February 14, 2022.”
The detailed order in this regard will be issued separately by the Minister of Education, Chandigarh Administration. Schools will be allowed to operate amid Covid-19 restrictions where wearing masks and maintaining physical distancing will be mandatory. Schools will also have to ensure proper disinfection, according to government rules.

The education department had previously authorized colleges, universities and other educational institutions on Jan. 31 to reopen from Feb. 1. However, the reopening was for students who had received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccination and only 50 percent capacity.

Schools have been closed since mid-March 2020 due to the pandemic and classes have been held in digital mode ever since.
Meanwhile, schools and all other educational institutions are also reopening in other states of the country. However, due to the elections in Odisha, the reopening of the school has been postponed. Taking into account the timing of the upcoming panchayat elections in Odisha, the state government said on Thursday that the students of grades 1-7 will come to the schools from February 28 and not 14 of this month as previously announced. Online education will continue as before, BP Sethi, the secretary of school and mass education, said in a letter to district authorities.
