Students at Chandigarh University have claimed that as many as eight girls have committed suicide and about 60 female students have been victims of inappropriate and non-consensual videos recorded and distributed. The police and the university administration have denied any suicide. Prima facia investigation also claims that only one video has been seized, but the investigation is ongoing and the presence of other videos cannot be ruled out yet.
Mohali SP has said: “So far in our investigation we have found that there is only one video of the accused himself. She has not recorded another video of anyone else. Electronic devices and mobile phones have been seized and are being sent for forensic examination.”

Students claim they caught the girl in the act and then exposed the matter to the principal who then allegedly mishandled the case. Incendiary girls have also accused the university administration of suppressing the case rather than taking action, leading many of them to protest outside the university.

According to students, the suspect sold these videos in exchange for money. The girl was caught in the act while making a video, after which the incident unfolded. According to reports, the student who shot the videos is from Mohali and she sent the video to a friend who lives in Shimla.
Several videos show residents demanding justice and abusing campus security. The protesters also purposely opened the gates of the hostel and tried to run outside the campus.
