The Kerala Police has said it has launched an investigation into a complaint filed by Kozhikode Medical College stating that a 12th standard student had recently attended MBBS class for four days without admission. Police said they had received a complaint and an investigation was underway.
It is not a matter of filing false documents or cheating. They said someone attended the class without following proper admissions procedures. We are investigating from all angles,” police said, adding that further details would be revealed after preliminary investigation.
Meanwhile, the university’s deputy principal, KG Sajith Kumar, said they had noticed a student attending the class without following the proper admission procedure.
”Since many students were late on the first day, they were all allowed to sit in class without verifying the admission card. It seems that the particular student has been to class for four days,” Kumar said.
The matter came to the knowledge of the university authorities when the student failed to attend class on the fifth day. The class started on November 29 with 245 students.
“After the allocation, they receive an access card after collecting their administration. This student did not have the card. But on the first day, anyone who reached the college was allowed to sit in class without verifying the card,” Kumar said.
When drawing up the attendance list based on the card, the college authorities found discrepancies with the provisional attendance list, which contained 246 students. After this, the authorities realized that there was an extra student who had been in the classroom for four days.
