In another easing being offered due to the dwindling number of Covid-19 cases, the Delhi government is allowing 10th and 12th grade students to attend offline classes and exams on school campuses without the parental consent letter. This comes a month after the central government rolled back the Covid-era rule of having a mandatory parental consent letter to attend in-person classes.
For students in grades 9 and 11, hybrid classes will continue through March 31, meaning that participation in physical classes is not mandatory, and students choose their classes, which can be online or offline. From April 1, all classes will only go offline. Having both online and offline options puts extra pressure on teachers.
With vaccination available to teens, Covid-19 cases are falling in states after states allow offline education.
“Schools can also deploy transport facilities for the convenience of students and parents with Covid-appropriate behavior,” the Delhi government said in an official statement following complaints from parents that bus services have not yet fully resumed. Schools claimed they are unable to convince carriers to continue working before covid-19 compensation and parents are unwilling to pay a high fee for the same service. Many schools have not resumed their contract with carriers for fear of a new one wave of the pandemic.
